About Our Turkish Law Firm
C&B Law Firm was founded in 2013 by Att. Şura Çokgör and is an Istanbul-based law firm in Turkey, working with expert attorneys-at-law and certified mediators. Our team handles every file according to its own area of practice, from the continuous legal advisory needs of companies to dispute resolution and litigation for individuals. As a law office in Turkey with international capability, we hold the Turkey representation and membership of many global organisations, and our Turkish lawyers provide legal support at international standards to domestic and foreign clients.

Our Working Principles
Alongside producing solutions once a dispute has arisen, we follow a preventive law approach that aims to stop risks before they materialise. Instead of using fixed templates, C&B Law Firm follows a working discipline based on detailed document review, risk analysis and the dynamics of the specific matter. Every process carried out within our law firm in Turkey generally consists of the following four stages:
Initial consultation
At the first meeting, arranged by appointment, the background of the matter is heard and the existing contracts and documents are reviewed; potential legal risks are identified before they turn into a dispute and the scope of the problem is defined.
Legal Assessment Under Turkish Law
In the light of current legislation and settled court decisions, the available routes, time limits and risks are assessed; preventive measures and the likely outcomes of any future court proceedings are shared openly.
Written framework
Before the attorney-client relationship is established, the scope of the legal services to be provided and the attorney fee are agreed in writing, so that a predictable framework is created for both sides.
Process and updates
All developments in court proceedings, mediation or advisory work, together with hearings and interim decisions, are reported to the client regularly; on request, the current status of the file is summarised in writing.

Where is C&B Law Firm located?

Located right next to the Astoria Shopping Mall, our law office in Turkey is within walking distance of the Mecidiyeköy and Gayrettepe metro stations.
Can I receive legal services from outside Istanbul or from abroad?
Yes. Under Turkish law, lawyers may conduct litigation, enforcement work and legal processes throughout the country, whichever bar association they are registered with. Meetings with clients living outside the city or abroad are held over online platforms. A power of attorney can easily be issued before any notary public in the city where you are, or, if you are abroad, through the nearest Turkish Consulate.
What should you look for when choosing a Turkish lawyer?
First, it should be confirmed that the person you meet is a licensed attorney registered with the relevant bar association (a registration check can be made through the Union of Turkish Bar Associations or the Istanbul Bar Association). Next, you should consider whether your legal dispute falls within the areas the firm actually works in. You should expect the likely steps, the risks and the attorney fee to be shared transparently from the outset, and the engagement to be recorded in a written agreement.
How should I prepare for the first meeting?
Bringing all the documents you hold about the background of the matter (contracts, e-mail and message correspondence, official notices, case file documents, title deed records or bank receipts) and any earlier court decisions will speed up the first assessment considerably. An initial meeting can still be held even if not all the documents are ready; missing papers can be completed as the work goes on.
How is the attorney fee determined in Turkey?
The attorney fee is set by taking into account the nature of the dispute, the scope of the legal process and the time and effort involved. The recommended Minimum Fee Schedule published each year by the Istanbul Bar Association is taken as the tariff in this process. At C&B Law Firm, we attach importance to agreeing all terms in a transparent written attorney engagement agreement before the attorney-client relationship is established.
Which languages do you work in?
All legal meetings, reporting and contract work are conducted in Turkish and English. Where official documents in a foreign language are to be submitted to the Turkish authorities, or documents drawn up under Turkish law are to be submitted abroad, sworn translation, notary certification and apostille procedures are also coordinated by us.
How can I get information about the progress of my file?
All developments in the court proceedings — hearing dates, interim decisions of the court, expert reports and the petitions filed — are passed on to our clients at the same time. Our clients may also ask for a written report summarising the current legal position of the file, and may contact our firm directly by telephone or e-mail.
Is any guarantee given that my case will be won?
No. Under the Turkish Attorneyship Law and the rules of the profession, giving an undertaking as to the outcome of a dispute is strictly prohibited. The outcome of court proceedings depends on the evidence collected, on the legislation and on the discretion of the judicial authorities. Our firm sets out only the legal risks and the possible scenarios transparently, in line with the facts of the specific matter and settled case law.
