Who Is a Sports Lawyer in Turkey?<\/h2>\n

A sports lawyer in Turkey<\/strong> is a term used for lawyers who deal with the legal side of sport. They advise on athlete contracts, transfers, athletes\u2019 unpaid wages, disciplinary and doping investigations, sponsorship and image rights, and run the lawsuit or arbitration process. In practice they are also simply called a sports attorney<\/strong>. A sports lawyer aims to secure the athlete\u2019s or the club\u2019s rights at the contract stage and, when a dispute arises, to protect those rights before the competent boards and courts.<\/p>\n

Sports law in Turkey<\/strong> is not a branch of law made up of a single statute. Alongside the rules of contract law, employment law, administrative law, criminal law and intellectual property law, it is a distinct field made up of the regulations of national and international sports federations. In Turkey, football is governed by Law No. 5894 on the Establishment and Duties of the Turkish Football Federation<\/strong> and the TFF regulations, other sports by Law No. 7405 on Sports Clubs and Sports Federations<\/strong> and the rules of the relevant federations, and spectator safety by Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports<\/strong>.
